Dandelions is a monthly poetry night in Nottingham. We have a featured poet each month. If you come along, you will usually get a chance to have a chat with the poet, in the friendly socialising that happens during breaks in the evening and at the end.
Just as important to Dandelions are the open mic poets, who sign up on the evening and read their work in shorter slots. We have such a range of poets reading at Dandelions, from poets new to writing, to people who have published many collections. We love the variety of poems we hear- from silly to heart-breaking, from two lines long to five minute monologues, from rhyming poems to every kind of free verse.
Part of the aim of our open mic is to be friendly and encouraging to new and experienced writers alike. It might be a good place to start if you haven't read your poems in public before, or if you want to be part of a warm, inclusive community of writers.
Guest poets are interviewed about their creative process for the Dandelions Poetry podcast on Spotify or search for Dandelions Poetry wherever you listen to your podcasts.
